Retreat Projects Completed!

We were busy crafters at our weekend retreat. Here are some photos to show what we created over our 3 days of spreading out on our own tables.

I worked on stamping and assembling the coffee cards for an upcoming card exchange. The happiness card was sent to a friend that could not make the retreat.

Dawn sewed the border around this hand stitched alphabet block. She said she used lots  of red scraps. She does not know the person that created the blocks so if you recognize the artist, please add a comment.

Katrina made a stack of microwavable bowls and was working on another stack. The ribbon blanket is for baby to stimulate visual and touch senses.

We took a break for the make-n-takes, a gable box and birthday card (not shown).

There is usually a little bit of fabric left after a project is finished. Dawn creates a square to remind her of the project since most are given away as gifts. She created these squares over the weekend. She eventually hopes to sew these together to make a larger project. Maybe we will see her do this at the next retreat.

Dawn’s square project reminded me that I do something similar with designer series paper. I keep a few sheets of favorite patterns to create a scrapbook layout so I can continue to enjoy the paper long after it has been used in other projects. I have several shelves of “saved” paper waiting to be scrapbooked. Someday I’ll get to creating with the stash. It may be used to finally get the scrapbook started that is All About Me. For now, it is enough I have a saved stash that will be ready when I am.

Would you like to join us on our next retreat? Paper crafters, quilters and rug hookers are welcome to attend and make progress along with us! Our next retreat is August 24-26 and October 19-21, 2018. Contact me for more information and reserve your spot at retreat!

Lorie Line in concert

I have been a fan of Lorie Line since seeing her in the early days playing at the Cities department store. I have many of her CD’s but not sure where Threads of Love went. hmmm…it has been missing for several years. I have watched her concert schedule over the years but it was never a good time to attend.

She was going to be somewhat close by so I watched the weather and that open front row seat. When the weather looked clear, I thought when was I going to have the chance to be front row again? So, I took the opportunity to attend. Lorie’s first costume was elegant eggplant velvet so I knew I was in for a great show. I love the color purple!

I added the concert CD to my stash at intermission. I was pleasantly surprised that it was placed in a dark purple organza bag. Such fortunes to be surrounded by purples!

Thanks for a wonderful evening #LorieLine and company!

Oh yes, I did sent her a thank you card. It was this one because I felt the reindeer conveyed all the effort put into preparing and performing this concert. I’ll color coordinate a (purple if that is the concert theme) thank you card for the next concert I attend.

ICS Blog Hop with Amazing You

Welcome to the Inspire, Create, Share Blog Hop featuring Stampin’ Up!’s Sale-A-Bration 2018 products. I hope you are enjoying our stops. We have great projects to share with you!

My design includes the game of I Spy. Can you find where I used the Amazing You stamp set? Look towards the bottom which needed a little more detail to offset the balloon bunch. The rays in the bottom corner of the Lots of Labels framelit shape are part of the ray half circle stamp in the Amazing You Sale-A-Bration stamp set. Sometimes only a portion of a stamp is needed to add the final detail.

We were challenged to use the following color combination in our design. I used crumb cake, bermuda bay and island indigo cardstock along with bermuda bay ink. The Bubbles and Fizz designer series paper featured the star pattern in bermuda bay hues so that was my starting point. Check back tomorrow for full design and supply details.

And the Winner is…

the puppy card as the favorite Card Buffet pick! Bella pulled ahead of the pack after a few more guests selected their cards.

Who can resist the stamp set Bella and Friends?  See the rest of the stamp set here.

Click here to see the blog post with a photo of the supplies used to create this card.

The least popular card was the cherry cobbler flower design. It is a very pretty design but since it is out of season where I live (cold and snowy), that may be the reason it was the least requested. See the original blog post with a supply photo here for this design.

Next Card Buffet is February 18th and 19th. Would you like to join us? Details will be posted soon. I need to have a design session first!

Have a nice day,

Gift Card Holder CASEing the Blog Hop Design 13

Turns out I did not have to CASE Joyce Hall’s Blog Hop design. It was her trade card at our all demonstrator meeting. Plus, 2 other demonstrators (Robin Vought created the guitar card, not sure who was the other demo) used the same design but achieved different looks. Joyce’s card is the lavender design which you can see on her blog here.

Flip the flap to reveal the gift card holder. Use a circle punch to create the notch.

The base layer is 4.25 x 11 inches, scored at 5.5 inches. Score the flap as needed according to the size of the front design. Robin’s guitar design accommodates a slighter larger front design than the other 2 designs.

It was a great idea to share designs covering birthday, wedding and graduation as a gift card idea. I may have to CASE it yet for the February Card Buffet.

If you missed the full blog hop, you can hop along here.

I have 1 more CASE and it is the card in a box. I have ideas so stay tuned to see what I create!

Have a nice weekend!
