Celery…oh so good…

crunch, crunch, crunch, oh how I missed you. I have been feeling a little off this week so clear broth and minimal foods have been my diet. Last night, celery was calling my name so I had a stalk, you know the outer one that is a little bitter. I stopped at one stalk because of the bitterness but the crunch was good. Later this afternoon, that crunch was calling my name again so I had another stalk, one closer to the center and much less bitter. I had a little kombucha with it and some cashews too.

A little while later, I had 2 more stalks, this time closer to the center since I work my way in to the heart. After I was finished with those, I remembered that we used to have ants on a log growing up. So I pulled out the peanut butter and tried a bite. That was very good so I filled the rest of the stalk with peanut butter. It was too late in the night to add ants since the sugar would have kept me awake. Ants were raisins growing up but I stock craisins at my house. If I am still feeling like celery tomorrow, I’ll have to create the gourmet snack with crunch, protein and sugar.

I had my snacks during a design session for the March Card Buffet. As I was designing and thinking about how much I was enjoying the celery crunch, I realized it is because I am looking forward to the first, fresh spring greens in the outside landscape and on my plate. Crocus and arugula and sunshine!

Here is a corner peek of one of the cards I designed while enjoying my celery. It captures the first of spring feel. Check back on March 9th to see the rest of the card, the buffet line up and full details for the Card Buffet event.

Tiny Treat Box Pillow Gift

2 2018retreatbox2-001

We had a nice time at our weekend retreat. Lots of projects completed, good food and pillow gifts! I’ll share the pillow gifts in this post and the rest of the weekend photos in a second post.

We had a lunch date with my nephew at Texas Tubb’s Taco Palace on February 16th which is within walking distance of the Gail Ambrosius chocolate shop. We arrived early in the area so decided to stop in the shop. They have the best chocolate covered caramels so that was what I was thinking of purchasing.

But, the heart boxes full of assorted chocolates were on sale since it was a few days after valentine’s day. So I took the opportunity to provide retreat guests with a fancy chocolate and that chocolate needed a fancy box. So I created one!

The stamp set is Better Than Chocolate, the patterned paper is from the Coffee Break package all complimented with early espresso ink, cardstock and seam binding ribbon.

See how to create the box wrap and decorate the top in my how to video.

Would you like to attend a future retreat? The next dates at Cattail Retreat in Poynette are August 24-26, 2018 and October 19-21, 2018. Fun Mail for Me

The logo drink mug and 30th Stampin’ Up! anniversary pin were delivered within a day of each other. Both are gifts from Stampin’ Up! The 30th anniversary pin celebrates Stampin’ Up!’s 30 years as a business. I have been a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator for 15 of the last years’. My anniversary is in August.

My family and I have been with Stampin’ Up! for longer than my 15 years as a demonstrator. We made a few of my previous demonstrators happy with our family orders. I decided to sign up to enjoy the demonstrator discount after we moved into our house with an extra room that needed a hobby to fill it.

The pin is attached to my lanyard along with my 5 and 10 year pin. I am looking forward to adding my 15 year pin in the fall. I first used the drink mug at a crop so it has good paper crafting vibes.

Scrap From My Heart Benefit

I attended a crop last weekend which was a benefit in memorial to raise funds for the McFarland Lutheran Church youth camp. The gym has excellent lighting, nice tables and kitchen access. Good conversation, time to work on our projects and enjoying good food were the event activities.

I provided a scrapbooking make-take using the Bubble Up suite. Here are Susan, Ranee and Brenda (peeking over the top) with their pages. The fun thing about double sided paper is that you can pick which side to display. Everyone did their layouts a little different.

Lorie Line in concert

I have been a fan of Lorie Line since seeing her in the early days playing at the Cities department store. I have many of her CD’s but not sure where Threads of Love went. hmmm…it has been missing for several years. I have watched her concert schedule over the years but it was never a good time to attend.

She was going to be somewhat close by so I watched the weather and that open front row seat. When the weather looked clear, I thought when was I going to have the chance to be front row again? So, I took the opportunity to attend. Lorie’s first costume was elegant eggplant velvet so I knew I was in for a great show. I love the color purple!

I added the concert CD to my stash at intermission. I was pleasantly surprised that it was placed in a dark purple organza bag. Such fortunes to be surrounded by purples!

Thanks for a wonderful evening #LorieLine and company!

Oh yes, I did sent her a thank you card. It was this one because I felt the reindeer conveyed all the effort put into preparing and performing this concert. I’ll color coordinate a (purple if that is the concert theme) thank you card for the next concert I attend.
