Wood Crate CASE

My Wood Crate stamp set and framelits were an immediate purchase when they first became available. I could envision lots of great designs. I have since viewed many samples from fellow demonstrators online.

I used the framelits in my blog hop post which you can see here. So my supplies were already on the stamp table when I came across a fabulous design from Rhonda’s blog which you can see here. I liked the contrast of dark ink against light colored cardstock. The tucked snippet of ribbon on top of a banner adds a nice detail.

I had a request to create sympathy cards so CASED Rhonda’s design and came up with this take on her design.

This was the last task for my day. I added the image to the blog post and set it to publish today.

But, when looking at the stamp set, I used this coordinating stamp first. It looked a little weird but figured that was the stamp that coordinated with the sympathy stamp, wishing the recipient to remember a life with fond memories.

The rainy night must have cleared my brain because I woke up thinking that the original stamp I used just did not work. There must be another sentiment that fits a sympathy card better. And there was and the sentiment has been replaced on my card.

The stamp set I used is Better Together which has lots of good coordinating sentiments. Just make sure you pick the right one when creating your next card! It is available in wood or clear mount blocks at my online store here.

#sunprairiestrong Life changes in an Instant

A week ago this time, Sun Prairie was just waking up and the days’ bustle was getting started. Morning walks were being taken, toast being served and minds were getting ready to work.

I had 3 greeting card sessions that day followed by volunteering at Gilda’s Club as kitchen host with an alumni Girl Scout troop. It was a busy day for me.

My last task for the day was to deliver a product order to DeForest on my way back from Gilda’s in Middleton. I head east, then north and then south to home. On my journey south, the sky was filled with black smoke that grew larger the closer I got to home.

My initial thought is that is not good; I hope no one is hurt. The smoke seems to be over PAC, close to where I live. As I change direction, I can see it is further south and east. I arrive home with neighbors outside looking around. Jim said the house rattled but sounded different than the garage door and my car. When I did not enter the house, he checked the garage to see I was not home so he knew it was something else.

As the events unfolded, we learned of the destruction and the price paid from the fallen firefighter. Life changes in an instant.

We were asked to stay away from the area so emergency workers could do their job. I had a senior living session at a community that is just inside the evacuation zone on Wednesday morning. I knew the residents were back in their community so I packed my supply tub light in case I had to walk in. I was able to park in their lot with the police barricade just beyond the driveway. Residents were so appreciative that I held the session. It made such a difference to their day that I was there. I like to think I make a difference during every other session too. Insert smiley emoji here:)

It’s been a week since since that day when life changed in an instant for many. Businesses are boarded, fences up to maintain a parameter around the zone and a final farewell for the firefighter was done.

Sun Prairie is taking steps to help those affected with #sunprairiestrong support. As I was reading about how other businesses and people were raising funds, I have an idea how my business can help with Cards for a Cause. I already have a Card Buffet on my schedule for this Sunday, July 22nd, 1-3pm and Monday, July 23rd, 9-11am. Anyone that places an online order using host code 7UY9EASY at my online store can stop in during Card Buffet hours and hand stamp a greeting card on me. I will donate 25% of online orders placed using host code 7UY9EASY. In addition, each guest that pays for the Card Buffet will have $5 of their $20 fee donated. The donation will be made to Sunshine Place, which provides a single point of access to social services for Sun Prairie residents to support themselves in time of need.

If you plan to stop in during buffet hours to hand stamp a free greeting card for placing an online order as directed above or want to reserve a spot at the buffet to stamp 10 greetings cards for $20, please click on Contact above to let me know you are attending so I can have a card kit(s) ready for you. Let me know in the comment section the best way to relay my address to you so you can find my house where the event is being held. I live just north of PAC.

I look forward to meeting you at the buffet to help others after their Life Changes in an Instant.

Paper Pumpkin Pop Up Blog Hop You are My Anchor

28701642_10216314905810036_5229522907894174650_o

Welcome to the Paper Pumpkin Pop Up Blog Hop! We are all fans of this monthly crafting kit and want to share with you our enthusiasm for this box of fun and creativity. The beauty of the Paper Pumpkin kit is that you can follow the directions provided in the kit to make the projects as they were designed, or use the supplies as a starting point and let your creativity run wild. On this hop we will be sharing lots of ideas with you on how to use this April Paper Pumpkin kit: You are My Anchor.

I decided to use the stamps and baker’s twine included in the kit to create this hand stamped greeting card and matching envelope. Use the custom fold down technique to add interest to the Picture Perfect Party designer series paper. Glitter enamel shapes provide the anchor for the fold down.

The Adventure Awaits sentiment was cut using the rolling pin from the Apron Builder framelit set. Yes, those are brand new cutting pads. They are so clear and smooth feeling. You get to witness the first cut! I decided to treat myself to new plates since my old pairs were pretty worn.
