The Guy with the Plants aka my Dad

My Dad has always created a little forest of starter vegetable plants in the spring so that when the ground is warm enough, we are ready to get a head start on the growing season. We review last year’s starter plant order as we go through the varieties of seeds available. Dad likes to try a few new things every year. I have basil, parsley, tomatoes, eggplant, brussel sprouts, broccoli and many varieties of peppers. If you come to my house, the peppers will greet you!

As I sat down to create his Father’s Day card, I thought that using the stamp set Gift from the Garden (item number 139356) would celebrate his efforts providing us (2 of my 3 sisters also plant gardens) with plants that allow us to eat right from the vines!

Here is the card I created with a basil plant brisking growing on my deck for easy snipping:

The patterned paper is from the new Serene Scenery designer series paper stack (item number 141642). Cardstock and ink are garden green. Old Olive baker’s twine adds visual interest. The new Sparkle embossing folder is peeking from behind the dsp. All products are available at my online store here.

Thanks Dad for taking the time to care for a crop of starter plants! Mine are growing well with rain barrel water and the hot temperatures. I’ll have tomatoes early this year!

Fun Fooodays

I am a foodie. I will take my time preparing dishes from the freshest ingredients (often from my gardens or canning jars), using Penzey’s spices and baking my own yeast breads too. A simple tray of nuts, dried figs and cheeses also makes it to my table several times a week.

While visiting my sister Julie, I attended her cooking class where we enjoyed a spinach and egg white roll:

mexican dip:

cherry oat choco bars:

Then later at her house, we had home brewed kombucha, home baked ciabatta along with foods gathered form various local shops after class:

Did you notice my sister Julie is a foodie too. She shares cooking demonstrations in the greater Milwaukee area through her website here. If you are in the area, check her classes out! She demonstrates at public and private events, maybe your next gathering could use a fun foodie demo!

Thanks for checking in for today’s Fun Foooday Post!

Keeping Families Close with Ronald McDonald House of Madison Gifts

Screen Shot 2016-06-16 at 7.47.19 AM

Ronald McDonald House Charities keeps families close and surrounded by love when their children are receiving medical treatment far from home. Stampin’ Up! is a national sponsor of RMHC by donating time and money through sales of an exclusive stamp set that is unique each year. This year, the stamp set is My Hero, item numbers (wood) 141954 or (clear) 141957. To date, Stampin’ Up! has contributed over $1.5 million to RMHC and their network of local chapters.

Demonstrators are encouraged to be involved with our local houses. My Super Awesome Stampers Team coordinates a Cards for a Cause with proceeds being donated directly to the Madison house. We hold this event at the house so that stampers can take a tour of the house to see the good work being done. My SAS Team also provides a nightly meal, usually in August so we can share our garden goodness! The tomato salad and kale crisps never have leftovers!

In addition, my team assembles Cards Kits to Go which are included in guest welcome bags. These kits are full of paper creativity all donated by generous demonstrators and stamping customers. Guests are welcome to take the kit with them to the hospital or back home. We are happy to provide a fun distraction. We hope they like what we have provided! I am delivering 13 Cards Kits to Go today, following up with doing 13 of something mentioned in the Monday, June 13th post here.

Contact your local RMHC to ask how you can get involved. If you would like to be involved with the Madison RMHC, leave a comment to get the conversation started. Information about the Madison house can be found on their website.

Thanks for supporting RMHC in ways that work for you!

Tuscan Vineyard Warm Up

I am in an organized swap with cards due at the end of this month. My chosen stamp set is Tuscan Vineyard. In looking around my shelves, I found a few kits containing some retired, but glorious supplies. I decided to warm up to my “real” swap using these supplies.

I used the Wink of Stella to blend purple on the grapes. So pretty in person! A blender pen and old olive ink added color to the leaves. As I was creating this card, I realized I won’t be able to use Blackberry Bliss on my swap! Elegant Eggplant or Rich Razzleberry will have to do.

Wondering if you will be one of the lucky 7 to receive this card? Preference given to those that share stamping with their friends in June! Contact me to be a lucky 7 winner!

Thanks for stamping with me today!

New Catalog Haul Unboxing Video

I schedule my day around new product deliveries! I can hear the UPS truck rumble around the neighborhood so I intercept the package greet the driver at the front door!

I created a video sharing what I got in my first box after the new catalog went live! Enjoy!

Let me know if you want me to demonstrate these products at a creative night out with friends. Can you see all those ribbons wrapped around party favors for your next anniversary or birthday party thank you gifts? I can! Ask me how I can help make your event special with paper crafts.

Thanks for sharing in my unboxing excitement today!
